Lebanese Breakfast Ideas - Ful and Hummus

Nothing says Lebanon like a traditional Lebanese breakfast!


My favourite thing on a Sunday morning is making a traditional Foul and Hummus. The protein and fibre in the beans is also a great healthy way to start the day.


Recipe for Foul and Hummus

Ingredients

  • 2 cans of fava beans

  • 2 cans of hummus

  • 1/2 cup olive oil, plus more for serving

  • 4 large cloves garlic, smashed or very finely minced

  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • chopped fresh parsley, for serving

  • 1 tomatoes diced, for serving

  • Fresh Lebanese bread, for serving

Instructions
  1. in a large pot, combine the beans and chickpeas along with their juices and let it boil over medium heat.

  2. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until soft, and then mash them up slightly with a wooden spoon to your desired consistency

  3. Crush the cloves of garlic and then mix it in with the beans and chickpeas

  4. Add the lemon juice, olive oil and salt to taste and make adjustments as desired.

  5. To serve, pour into a shallow bowl, add a sprinkle of chopped fresh parsley, and diced tomatoes

  6. Drizzle with a coating of olive oil and then serve with warm fresh Lebanese bread and enjoy!
